VIDEO RELAY SERVICE (VRS)

Video Relay Service (VRS) allows deaf or hard of hearing people to make phone calls using video. Users connect to qualified video interpreters (VIs) through a videophone or app on a computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. High-speed internet is required for VRS.

state seal Relay North Carolina (Relay NC) is funded by a surcharge on landlines and wireless telephone connections in North Carolina and administered by the North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing. TTY and Voice Carry-Over (VCO) relay are not compatible with PBX system, VOIP phones or digital landlines; a dedicated landline must be used.
