INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) RELAY SERVICE

Internet Protocol (IP) Relay Service allows deaf or hard of hearing people to place relay calls via a computer, laptop, tablet or phone with Internet access. Functioning much like TTY Relay Service, the caller types, and the operator reads the words aloud to the other party and types back what is said.

state seal Relay North Carolina (Relay NC) is funded by a surcharge on landlines and wireless telephone connections in North Carolina and administered by the North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing. TTY and Voice Carry-Over (VCO) relay are not compatible with PBX system, VOIP phones or digital landlines; a dedicated landline must be used.
